Friday Flashback

ff3_8_13_veganfling

I spent a day hanging out in Boulder this week, and found some great things! My friend and I went to lunch at the Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. They have a whole menu with seemingly endless tea options, and even bring you a little timer for your table to know when your tea has steeped enough. Their menu is an international blend of dishes, of which several can be requested vegan. Above is my tea choice and the Tibetan Kong Po with tofu. The inside of this building is so cool with painted ceilings and hand carved wood - definitely check it out if you're in the area. We then wandered around Pearl Street and I scored some vegan lip scrub and balm from Lush, and found a very delicious vegan cupcake at Tee and Cakes.

Another day we had a delicious lunch at Linger in Denver. Pictured are the Butternut Squash Papusas and the Pad Thai - amazing! Below are some mini bundts we made that were supposed to be vanilla and chocolate marble. They didn't come out perfectly, but they still tasted good! The bottom right is the Superfood Salad and the Curry Split Pea soup from Mod Market.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Flashback

I finally made it to Linger in Denver! We went for lunch and the food was amazing. The building used to be a mortuary (see the sign above) and even though the inside was completely re-done and looks awesome, they have kept some of that theme in the restaurant which is kind of funny. We ordered the sweet potato fries to share, and then my choice was the pad thai which was delicious! It had tofu, butternut squash and papaya in it. Yeah. I know. Crazy good. We then ventured over to Sweet Action to get some chocolate ice cream for dessert!

Travel: Denver

As a part of Vegan MoFo I decided It would be fun to dedicate my Monday posts to travel. I love to try out new restaurants and local cuisine whenever I travel to new places, and I also love to plan!

I decided to do a travel post by "visiting" my own home of Denver, Colorado. Denver is actually a very vegan friendly city! I don't live near downtown, so I haven't had a chance to check out of all these places yet. I think it's harder to find the time to go out and explore your own area sometimes because you have all your other usual commitments. I will definitely find time for each of these soon!

City O City
A casual but hip place that serves vegetarian and vegan foods. I highly recommend the City O burger or the Savory Waffle! Everything from their bakery is vegan too.

Udi's Supper Club
The Arvada location of Udi's Cafe has a once a month vegan supper club. It's a set 4 course menu that changes every month. I've been a few times and it's always fantastic!
My posts: here and here.

Sweet Action Ice Cream
A small but super popular ice cream place in the South Broadway neighborhood. They always offer at least 2 vegan ice cream flavors AND have vegan ice cream cookie sandwiches! Awesome.

NOOCH | Vegan Market
Brand new to Denver, Nooch is a small vegan grocery and retail store. They also have to-go foods like wraps, salads, and bakery items. I finally made it downtown to check this place out and it's awesome! I picked up a few things while I was there: local organic ketchup, ranch dressing, homemade bread, rice crackers, chocolate sprinkles and vegan lip balm. If you are in the area, you must check this place out!

Vegan Van
That's right - Denver has a vegan food truck! I can't believe I haven't been able to visit yet!
You can find the van through their website, and currently they at Nooch on Wednesdays and at Sweet Action on Friday nights.

Watercourse Foods
Maybe the most well known vegetarian restaurant in Denver, Watercourse also has a full bakery and always seems to be busy. I hear that their Seitan Buffalo Wings are the best ever. Also, Vegan Milkshakes!

Linger
A fairly new upscale Denver restaurant that has been getting rave reviews. They offer several vegan options, including pad thai, masala dosa, tamales, and salted butterscotch pudding for dessert. I also hear the bar is covered in lite brites, so clearly I need to go here very soon.

Larimer Square in Downtown Denver

Colorado vegans - I'd LOVE to hear more suggestions in the comments!

Friday Flashback: Keystone

Last weekend, we took a little trip to Keystone, CO. It's a ski town, but in the summer it's uncrowded and offers some beautiful mountain views. We had a great time relaxing and escaping some of the super hot weather in Denver this summer!

I found a great little cafe and coffee shop called Inxpot that had several vegan options on their menu! I went with the vegan chicken salad sandwich which was great. If we had stayed longer, I would have definetly returned to this place!

For dinner we found a pizza place near our hotel that was pretty good. I was able to create my own veggie pizza without any cheese, so I was happy.

I think this will be our last little vacation for the summer. I have some big plans for the rest of the year to look forward to though - Philadelphia and PARIS! I can't wait.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Flashback

This week was really busy for me, and I didn't get the chance to cook anything very exciting for dinners. I did get to go to Udi's vegan supper club on Monday night though, and it was amazing! It was the first time I've been to something like this. If you live in Colorado you need to check this out - they have it once a month! It was so fun to be able to eat everything there.

Here are a few pictures of the delicious food from Udi's.

1. Tabouleh Salad, Falafel, Hummus, Assorted Udi’s Artisan Breads
2. Brocollini pizza with romesco (my favorite!), corn salad with arugula, braised leeks, scallions, almonds, ceasar dressing and Spanish paprika
3. Creamy chickpea ravioli in tomato basil sauce with pickled enoki mushrooms and micro greens
4. Flourless chocolate cake with peanut butter

Yum, can't wait for the next one!

What's your favorite place to treat yourself to a dinner out?
